Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh

1 Festival Square, Edinburgh EH3 9SR, UK – 0131 229 9131

The hotel is lovely and the bed comfortable. The full Scottish breakfast buffet is quite good. Location is perfect. It's easy walking distance to all the major tourist destinations in town and many excellent restaurants. The one particularly annoying thing is that the rooms have red lights that come on when you turn off all the other lights, and we couldn't find a way to turn them off. Useful for finding your way if you get up in the middle of the night, but super annoying if you need a dark room to sleep. I recommend bringing a sleep mask.

Fabulous hotel and location. Room with a view of the castle and access to the spa. Love the roof top hydro pool. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Great selection at breakfast, lovely. Excellent lunch. Very friendly and accommodating staff. Cannot fault it! We will definitely be back! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Leonardo Royal Hotel Edinburgh Haymarket

1 Morrison Link, Edinburgh EH3 8DN, UK – 0131 460 4600

Stayed here for a couple of days and wasn't too happy at having 2 single beds put together to make a double. Room was clean enough, shower was superb. Remote for telly was rubbish, couldn't change channel or turn volume down, changed batteries and unit but stil no good. Staff were lovely,Spanish girls on reception. Breakfast was good although paid £15 for the privilege. All in all ....adequate.

If anybody is trying to find good deals on hotels visit HoteIRᴀven. com booked a hotel on there and they had the best rates anywhere! Really friendly hotel. Well decorated rooms and feels welcoming. A bit busy with coach parties maybe. Very handy for Haymarket station and trams to Airport

hub by Premier Inn Edinburgh Royal Mile

37 E Market St, Edinburgh EH8 8BG, UK – 0871 527 9580

Had a lovely stay! The hotel is in an ideal location close to all the main attractions, bars and restaurants. The staff are really friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. The hotel was very clean and the rooms are quite modern too. The only thing I'd say is that the bathrooms aren't very private with frosted glass doors and there was a gap around the door even when shut. Not a massive problem but better privacy would have been better. But overall great stay and I definitely recommend staying here!

I just checked in, but so far I'm loving the hotel. Price is good. Room is comfy. It has everything I need. I appreciate the attention to detail. For free water, there's tag says "take me I'm yours" so you don't need to worry about whether it's free. There are tons of free movies to watch. Bathroom amenity is limited. That's probably my only complaint. I think they offer free coffee and tea 24 hour. The guy helped us to check in is super friendly and welcoming. Too bad I didn't get his name.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

Nobles Café Bar & Restaurant

44A Constitution St, Edinburgh EH6 6RS, UK – 0131 629 7215

I love this place. A great local beer selection on tap, every other kind of alcohol you could need including some interesting cocktails, a fantastic brunch offering and excellent staff. Decor is a mix of super traditional and more contemporary (and artwork including a truly glorious cat oil painting) which is stimulating and complementing rather than clashing. A must visit in the area

Edit: the pub has been in touch to apologise for the barman's behaviour and assured me this wouldn't happen again. Shocking attitude towards families. My little baby wanted a nap, and we popped him down on our table to sleep comfortably on a sleep mat. When we ordered drinks, the barman said, "do you want to do something safer with your baby?!" in an aggressive manner. What could be safer than a baby - who cannot yet roll - sleeping on a table surrounded by four sober adults? He then tried to defend his aggressive attitude when questioned by my husband. Unbelievable behaviour for a pub that claims to be family-friendly. There are nicer ways to express concern, and he unfortunately was a barman on a power trip. Luckily there are many more family friendly pubs in the area, such as Compass, that will not judge you if you want to have a quiet pint with a few friends on a weeknight!!!

The Doric

15-16 Market St, Edinburgh EH1 1DE, UK – 0131 225 1084

The food was excellent, I had an amazing shepherds pie. The service was fast and very pleasant. Although its also a pub downstairs, the upstairs does not feel like one... I Really recommend this place

Nice place. The fish and chips was too greasy though and the dish could have tasted of more. Delicious sticky toffee pudding! Good, friendly service.

The Cumberland Bar

1-3 Cumberland St, Edinburgh EH3 6RT, UK – 0131 558 3134

Great local pub. Although we were definitely not locals, we were made to feel at home. Excellent service and great food. Highly recommended!

Me and my friends had a lovely weekend in Edinburgh and to top it off we went here for a classic Sunday Roast. I have to say it was one of the best Sunday roast I have ever had, the beef was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. Amazing highly recommend.

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!
